National Book Fund Scholarship and Grant



The Great Plains Literacy Council has received literacy program, valued at approximately $2,000, from ProLiteracy through its National Book Scholarship Fund (NBSF). 

ProLiteracy granted more than $100,000 in National Book Fund grants to 65 community-based programs. According to Michele Diecuch, senior member and program manager for ProLiteracy, nearly two-thirds of the powerful, high-quality candidates were granted.

This grant has given educational materials to people who can not afford for their education. This will increase the education among those.

This Grant will help:

1. Resources for Tutors
2. Tutor Training
3. Adult learners of literacy
4. Health literacy
5. Citizenship
6. English Learning

About ProLiteracy

ProLiteracy was established by the 2002 merging of Laubach Literacy International and Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., both based in Syracuse, New York.

In 1995,using only donated resources, the NBF started offering regional knowledge programs throughout the U.S. with New Readers Press Books and other academic materials.

ProLiteracy provides literacy curriculum and volunteer tutors with expert training certification and program sources they need to educate primary literacy or English training for speaking with others who speak other language. The Great Plains Literacy Council offered financing up of 20% of the grant amount and will provide a follow-up published report of the use of this program.
